Registration — Enrolling at IMI Switzerland from Western Canada
As CBL is an Official IMI Representative, the application process is considerably easier as instead of preparing the full list of application requirements as listed on IMI's Website and brochure, IMI allows students enrolled through the CBL office to apply with only their core documents first to determine if they are eligible for entry
Although on the surface the steps for enrolling below may seem different from those listed on the IMI website for students whom do not have an Official/Local Representative in their country, in reality they are the same with the only difference being that the procedures specific for Western Canada have been factored in.
Step 1 — Complete IMI's application form and send it together with the required documents to Can-Be-Link Education Corp. (Official IMI Representative for Western Canada).
Step 2 — If your application complies with IMI's entrance requirements, you will receive a Provisional Letter of Acceptance (PLOA) from IMI through the Can-be-Link office.
Step 3 — Please arrange for the Registration Fee payment of CHF 2,800 (this includes your residence permit, textbooks, compulsory health & accident insurance) payable to "IMI International Hotel Management Institute Switzerland" direct to Switzerland, by bank transfer or bank draft. Please remember to write your Full Name and Student Number (see top right-hand corner of your PLOA) on the bank transfer or on the back of the bank draft).
Once this has been completed, you can start to prepare to submit the remaining required documents you have not submitted during the initial application.
Step 4 — You will receive a Confirmation Letter once IMI has received your payment. Please note that this document will be needed to apply for your Student Visa to Switzerland.
Step 5 — Apply for a Student visa at the nearest Swiss Embassy/Consulate. For Western Canada, the Swiss Consulate is in downtown Vancouver located at the World Trade Centre at Waterfront. If you are unable to personally come to Vancouver to apply for your Swiss student visa, please contact CBL for alternate options. For information on how to apply for your Swiss Student Visa, please refer to the documentation CBL has provided to you.
In the meantime, IMI will apply to the Foreign Police in Switzerland for a stay permit for the duration of your study. 6–8 weeks are needed to get your visa approved. Note: 50% of the total fee is due 8 weeks prior to course commencement or the Swiss government will not issue your entry visa. In certain countries due to Swiss regulations, the full dues have to be paid.
Step 6 — 50% of the full tuition payment must be paid at least 8 weeks (= 2 mths) before the school begins in order to allow enough time and smooth processing of your student/entry visa to enter Switzerland.
