11. Does one need work permit while working in Switzerland?

IMI will issue a special permit for this when they are at school.

12. Is it hard to find a job? Will one end up with no job during practicum semester?

The school will help students arrange your 1st practicum. They will make sure that every student has got a job-training/practicume. We also encourage students to work hard on the language course, either German or French, in order to get the ideal practicum arrangement.

13. How much could one expect to save per month during practicum term?

During practicum term, students could receive approximately CHF2000 per month. The exchange rate is about 1:1 to Canadian dollars. After the deduction of taxes, room and board, one could save approximately CAD$1000-1300 per month.

14. Where can one apply for the student visa in British Columbia?

The Consulate General of Switzerland is located on the 7th floor of the World Trade Centre at Canada Place in Vancouver, BC. Their office hours are 9AM-1PM Monday to Friday. Note: hours are subject to change without prior notice.

15. How can one apply for the student visa?

The Swiss Consulate/Embassy requires students to make personal applications. Students should bring along all the required documents, including the letter of acceptance issued from IMI and confirmation of payment letter, to the nearest Swiss Consulate/Embassy to apply.

16. How long does the Visa application take?

Please allow 6-8 weeks for the visa process. It is recommended that you check with the Can-Be-Link office to see when is the best time to start the Visa application process.

17. What can one expect to do upon completion of IMI courses.
